Website Management Processes

This page list the management processes for the website and the print edition of the West Edinburgh Neighbourhood Network (WENN).

  1. This is a signposting website that directs people to other community web sites which are kept up to date. This way the required effort on this website is minimal.
  2. The WENN print edition and website listing will be updated at the same time.
  3. Organisation are allowed to request updates to the website that differs to the printed edition.
  4. During each month changes to the print edition will be tracked as changes to MS Word and at the end of the month a version created.
  5. The City of Edinburgh Community Empowerment & Engagement Officer will keep each months WENN directory in MS Word format so that there is continuity into the future.
  6. Nothing will appear on the website without going through a management process. There will be two accredited users that can add content which is submitted by email.
  7. Comments are turned off to ensure no reputational damage or management overhead.
  8. Calendar events can be displayed on the What’s On events by organisations inviting westedinburghinformation@gmail.com to a calendar event.
  9. The technology used for the website is all free and everyone works for free. This limits the complexity of what can be done but this makes the site easy to maintain.
  10. The website uses WordPress to deliver content and wordpress.com to host. This is the most widely used web technology in the world sitting on a secure platform.
